SUMMARY:19th FAD-Conference „Challenge – Exhaust Aftertreatment“

November 2022\nOrt:  Dresden[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]On November 3rd and 4th\, 2022\, the 19th FAD conference “Challenge – Exhaust Aftertreatment” took place in Dresden. 100 participants followed our invitation to the professional discourse in person. The offer of online participation was also very popular\, we were able to welcome 20 participants. The conference was again supplemented by an exhibition. This invited to the exchange of information and ideas during the breaks. \nThe effects of the major upheavals on the energy market\, disrupted supply chains\, rising raw material prices and the massive deterioration in the consumer climate are making the desired transformation of mobility towards CO2 neutrality more difficult. The resulting macroeconomic challenges for companies\, coupled with the technical challenges\, can only be mastered if all possibilities are exhausted and all alternatives are discussed and evaluated without ideology. These include the diversification of fuels\, the development and use of a drive portfolio tailored to the specific application\, newly conceived mobility concepts and the comprehensive expansion of the infrastructure\, to name a few important ones. These points were taken into account when selecting the topics for this year’s conference. Strategies and solutions for realizing CO2-neutral mobility were presented. With the defossilization of the energy base\, e.g. through the use of e-fuels and hydrogen\, the initial conditions for exhaust gas aftertreatment are changing. The associated problems and solutions were also discussed\, as were innovative drive and emission reduction concepts. \nThe interesting specialist lectures were supplemented by the exhibition accompanying the conference. In addition to the informative trade exhibition in the break area\, there was also an outdoor exhibition this year. Here\, MAN Truck & Bus SE presented the MAN H4576 test unit with H2 direct injection\, integrated into a 4×2 tractor unit. \nWe would like to thank all participants for their interest in our FAD conference and for the lively discussions.
